A blogging foundation gives you a library of topics to discuss at length. And there’s no better way to discuss a topic than with a friend over coffee or podcasting…
Imagine you are a fly on the wall watching your favorite content creators discussing their favorite topics. The conversation flows freely as they share their thoughts and opinions. You get a deep understanding of the why. And while reading a blog can help you learn about a topic related to a business, a podcast helps your audience get to know the real you.
When a blogger invites someone into the podcasting studio to ask questions about a topic their audience gets a deeper sense of their expertise while also introducing them to a new audience. Here are a few tips and tricks if you’re ready to jump into the pod.
Choose the right podcasting software.
These days podcasting doesn’t require a huge setup. You need a microphone and a relatively quiet place to record. You’ll probably want to use podcasting software like Riverside, Streamyard or Podbean where you can save your recorded podcast and make edits before publishing it.
Find your streaming service.
Then, you’ll want to stream your podcast using a service like Spotify or Apple Podcasts – or both.
Develop your podcast content strategy.
Lay out your publishing cadence in your podcasting strategy. The key to building an audience who may eventually become your customers is to publish regularly. Make sure the cadence includes time for script writing (even if you’re using a very informal format), recording, editing and post-production.
If you’re working with evergreen content, you can produce several episodes over a few weeks ahead of your chosen launch date. Then, as the episodes run, you can continue producing high-quality content without tight deadlines.
Invite folks to the table.
Keep things interesting by inviting guests on your podcasts. These can be fellow podcasters, thought leaders, or subject matter experts who bring credibility to your brand by joining you for a chat.
